Floyd Mayweather saw it coming. Last week he and partner Karina Smirnoff landed in the bottom two, narrowly escaping elimination.

Upset by last week’s outcome, Mayweather channeled all of his energy into a solid Paso Doble performance on Monday night. Praise and solid scores from the DWTS judges wasn’t enough for the professional boxer, who was sent packing Tuesday night.

“I had a ball. We had a great time. I had the best choreographer/teacher,” Mayweather, told PEOPLE minutes after learning his fate. He praised Smirnoff for “pushing me to the limit. She brought me into a totally different field and I was able to do something I’ve never done before.”

Starting Wednesday, Mayweather will get back to doing what he does best –boxing. The welterweight fighter can now focus his energy full-time on his Dec. 8 title bout vs. Ricky Hatton.

While Mayweather’s departure wasn’t necessarily shocking, what did have mouths agape in the ballroom was the other couple in the bottom two – Mel B. and Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

An outraged judge Bruno Tonioli cried foul.

“I don’t mean to take anything away from Floyd, but Melanie is the best (sic) dancer. Come on, !” Tonioli scolded. –Monica Rizzo
