Meet RJ Berger — part Kevin Arnold, part McLovin, part Dirk Diggler.

MTV is rolling out the latest incarnation of teenage angst with their new scripted show, The Hard Times of RJ Berger, about the 15-year-old, who is stuck on the bottom rung of the high school social ladder.

But Berger, played by Paul Iacono, is able to put himself on the map after accidentally revealing his not-so-little Berger to the entire school.

From there, Berger starts his trek from ridiculously shy to slightly less shy during the daily adventures of a sophomore trying to get his dream girl’s attention, avoiding daily beatings from the school’s top jock and simply trying to feel comfortable in his own skin.

The new show, which premiers on June 6 after the MTV Movie Awards, is being touted by the network as a mix of The Wonder Years and Superbad and “a loud, funny, raunchy, sexy look at the life of lovable loser.” –Zach Haberman
