Melissa Rivers is taking her mother’s legacy into her own hands.

Rivers will co-host E!’s Fashion Police alongside Giuliana Rancic and Brad Goreski starting this summer, the network announced Wednesday. She already executive-produces the show and is assuming a role held by her late mom, iconic comedian Joan Rivers.

“I’m very excited to be given the opportunity to continue to work with my E! and Fashion Police family,” Melissa, 47, said in a statement.

The series has been steeped in controversy ever since Joan’s death last September: Her friend Kathy Griffin originally took her seat but quit in March after Rancic’s controversial on-air jab at singer/actress Zendaya‘s dreadlocks. Panelist Kelly Osbourne left for the same reason in February.

“Just like a family, when the matriarch dies, the sisters started fighting, someone tried to marry in, not a great match, live and learn,” Melissa told Today‘s Hoda Kotb of the shakeup last month. “My biggest complaint was the feeling that [Griffin] kind of s— all over my mother’s legacy in her statement on leaving. I know everything was so heightened and everybody was so crazy, but that was my takeaway.”
