She may be getting Hot & Bothered in her upcoming NBC show, but Eva Longoria has a cool head when it comes to her career goals.

“I want to be the female George Clooney,” Longoria, 40, says in the August issue of InStyle. “He directs, produces and stars. I want to be in charge of the final product.”

The Desperate Housewives alum and self-proclaimed “control freak” also wants to clear up a misconception about her rise to fame: “Everyone goes, ‘Oh, she’s an actor turned director,’ and I’m like, ‘No, I was always a director and a producer who happened to become an actor.’ “

Just last month, Longoria revealed her passion for life beyond the camera when she told PEOPLE that she would be in corporate America if she weren’t in Hollywood.

“I love quotas and budgets, and I like barometers of success. I like measurements of success,” said Longoria. “Tell me what to do, and I will exceed it.”

Though the former beauty queen is adamant about channeling her inner Clooney, there’s one secret weapon she has over the two-time Sexiest Man Alive: false eyelashes.

“I’ve been using individual false eyelashes since my pageant days,” Longoria told InStyle. “Squeeze the glue out and let it dry for a minute before applying lashes. If you put them in the glue right away, they slide like crazy.”

Savvy and stunning? Watch out, George.

Hot & Bothered premieres on NBC in 2016.
