Marisa Tomei Joins the Cast of 'Empire'

The Oscar winner will play a lesbian billionaire, according to Fox

The Empire continues to grow.

After an incredibly well-received first season, Fox’s hit hip-hop drama is set to return in the fall with an even more epic cast.

Joining the Taraji P. Henson– and Terrence Howard-led cast is Marisa Tomei, who will appear as a recurring character during the show’s second season.

Tomei will play Mimi Whiteman, a venture capitalist worth billions who loves hip-hop, fashion and beautiful women, according to a description Fox provided to Entertainment Weekly.

The Oscar winner, 50, joins Chris Rock, Alicia Keys, Lenny Kravitz and Adam Rodriguez on the list of stars slated to appear in the fall.

Season 2 of Empire is set to premiere Sept. 23 on Fox.
