Could PEOPLE’s Pretty Woman musical fantasy casting actually come true?

Emmy Rossum addressed the Internet chatter surrounding the actress potentially starring in the Broadway adaptation of the 1990 rom-com on the Late Late Show with James Corden on Wednesday night.

“This is the first time the Internet has been nice to anyone. This is fabulous,” the Shameless actress, 28, joked when host James Corden asked if she had heard the fan speculation brewing on the Web.

“Yeah, that would be amazing!” Rossum exclaimed about the idea of possibly reprising Julia Roberts‘s scrappy leading lady Vivian.

“What would the lyrics and the songs for that show be?” Rossum wondered in the clip. She then proceeded to improvise a peppy tune to fit the prostitute-meets-billionaire love story.

“I could be a hooker with a heart of gold ” she sang (and quite impressively!).

“I’m a guy who loves you but I’m way too old,” Corden, 36, chimed in to finish out the verse.

“I’m a whore!” Rossum belted as she brought it on home with some lengthy falsetto.

But Rossum is no stranger to singing roles. She showed off her voice when she starred as Christine in the 2004 film version of The Phantom of the Opera opposite Gerard Butler.

She would be a Broadway newbie, but Rossum is totally open to the role, she said. And maybe her new singing buddy could teach her a few things. (Corden has been on Broadway twice.)

“You would have to school me,” she told the host.
