Entertainment TV What Makes Ellie Kemper 'Really Angry'? The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt star opens up to PEOPLE about her biggest pet peeves By Emily Strohm Published on March 3, 2015 05:45 PM Share Tweet Pin Email Photo: Eric Liebowitz/Netflix Ellie Kemper has plenty of experience playing polite characters, and the former star of The Office follows the same philosophy when it comes to her personal life. “It drives me crazy when people don’t have good manners,” Kemper, 34, tells PEOPLE. “I think it’s inexcusable.” But that’s not all the actress – who stars in Tina Fey‘s latest comedy Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt doesn’t like. “I cannot stand when people don’t follow the rules,” says Kemper. “Like in New York when people cut people off, I mean foot traffic-wise. There’s a flow to traffic on the sidewalk, and when people aren’t adhering to that it makes me really angry.” And don’t even get her started on airport etiquette. “It also makes me angry at baggage claims when people go so close to the carousel so that no one can see what bags are coming out. If you just made like a bigger circumference everyone would be able to see,” she vents before joking, “I sound like George Costanza now.” But despite her gripes about the Big Apple, Kemper couldn’t be happier to be back in New York with a brand new show. “Shooting all over New York City is so much fun,” she says. “The energy is unparalleled. I love this city.” For more from our exclusive interview with Kemper, pick up the latest issue of PEOPLE, on newsstands Friday Reporting by CATHERINE KAST
