Ed Sheeran, head banger?

In a funny musical skit from Monday night’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the pop singer known for his beautiful melodies took on heavy metal – and actually sounded pretty good doing it.

“You’re going to love his new album, Ed Sheeran Sings Heavy Metal,” joked a wig-bedecked Fallon as if he were on Masterpiece Theatre. “Pop music’s cherub-faced troubadour sings 25 of the darkest, most skull-crushing songs ever written.”

After Sheeran sang an acoustic version of Iron Maiden’s “Run to the Hills,” Fallon said, “That’s like a warm blanket that soothes my muscles and bones.”

Sheeran not only took on other heavy songs like Limp Bizkit’s “Break Stuff,” but Taylor Swift‘s BFF also put his own spin on hardcore rap, including Ty Dolla $ign’s hit “Paranoid.”

The British sensation smiled and giggled as he dropped a few choice words that were immediately bleeped out, but he seemed to have a great time trying out a few other musical genres.

“See you on the other side,” Fallon said as the singer finished, referring to him as “Death Sheeran.”
