Apparently ducks of a feather don’t always flock together.

After Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson endorsed GOP hopeful Ted Cruz for president in a campaign ad last week, his son Willie has announced he’s going in a different direction.

Willie endorsed GOP front-runner Donald Trump at the 16th annual Outdoor Sportsman Awards in Las Vegas on Thursday night.

“Mr. Trump is a real leader,” Robertson said in a press release before the show. “He represents success and strength, two attributes our country needs.”

Trump, joined by his sons Donald and Eric at the awards event, spoke out in support of gun rights.

“When you look at Paris, when you look at California, when you look at these horrible things that are happening all over the place, people need protection,” Trump said. “We have to get protection. The Second Amendment is very important to me, my two sons are members of the NRA.”

Willie’s father, Phil, endorsed Trump’s GOP rival Cruz in a video ad released Jan. 13, after sealing the deal on a duck-hunting trip.

“My qualifications for president of the United States are rather narrow: Is he or she godly, does he or she love us, can he or she do the job, and finally would they kill a duck and put him in a pot and make him a good duck gumbo?” Robertson said in the ad. “Cruz fits the bill.”
