Death of Greg Plitt, Bravo Star Killed by Train, Ruled an Accident
The Work Out star died from multiple blunt force trauma
While Work Out star Greg Plitt’s fans and family are still reeling from his shocking death, more details surrounding the tragedy continue to emerge.
The Los Angeles coroner has ruled Plitt’s death an accident caused by multiple blunt force injuries, PEOPLE confirms.
Warren Coulter, a friend of Plitt’s, told the Associated Press and The Los Angeles Times that he spoke to film crew members who were with the Bravo personality when he was fatally struck by a train just north of the Burbank Metrolink Station.
“He just made a mistake,” Coulter said of Plitt, who was attempting to film action scenes for a video on his website when he fell.
Plitt’s girlfriend, Christina Stejskal, added that the reality star was “just trying to get the best shot. He wanted to push things to the limit, he’s just like Superman.”
But the fitness enthusiast wasn’t supposed to be anywhere near the train when the horrific accident occurred.
“This was not an authorized shoot,” Metrolink spokesperson Jeff Lustgarten tells PEOPLE. “We get two to three requests a month for filming and we go through a permitting process where we do a site check, put everyone through a detailed safety briefing and most importantly we have a flag man there with the crew on the day of filming. The flagman knows the schedule of the trains and communicates with operations, but none of that occurred.”
We had no idea they were going to be out there,” he adds. “The engineer did see Mr. Plitt and used the brakes and sounded the horns, but he was still struck. It s is a terrible tragedy.
Plitt recently filmed Bravo’s Friends to Lovers, which premiered Jan. 12.
A spokesperson for the network previously told PEOPLE: “This is a terrible tragedy. Our thoughts and deepest sympathy are with Greg’s family and friends.”
