Entertainment TV Quintuplet Mom Danielle Busby Frets Over Risky Surgery for Daughter Hazel The OutDaughtered star opens up about the biggest decision of her life in an exclusive sneak peek By Christina Dugan Ramirez Christina Dugan Ramirez Writer-Reporter, TV People Editorial Guidelines Published on November 29, 2016 09:37 AM Share Tweet Pin Email As if parenting 1-year-old quintuplets and a 5-year-old daughter weren’t enough, Adam and Danielle Busby were thrown another curve ball. In an exclusive sneak peek at Tuesday’s episode of TLC’s OutDaughtered, the parents prepare for daughter Hazel to undergo eye surgery. “It’s scary thinking about Hazel going into eye surgery,” Danielle says. “There’s risk involved with that. Hazel could even get an infection. She could lose her eye sight. This surgery fix is not even about her vision — it’s more so to correct the placement of where her eye goes to focus better so she doesn’t have to turn her neck, which is a huge deal.” She adds, “I’m just nervous about what’s going to happen. Is she going to come out and everything went perfectly fine or is she going to come out and something else went wrong?” The quintuplets – Ava Lane, Olivia Marie, Hazel Grace, Riley Paige and Parker Kate – were born at 28 weeks on April 8, 2015, in Houston and went home from the hospital in July. “At the very beginning when we first got them all home, that was very hard,” Adam previously said. “I mean, just keeping up with the feedings every three hours – I remember so many times where I would be laying in bed feeding a baby in the middle of the night and I would be woken up by the sound of a bottle hitting the floor because I just completely fell asleep and dropped the baby’s bottle. You’re just running on empty, on no sleep, all the time. It’s just crazy.” In the clip, the visibly emotional parents give their little girl endless hugs and kisses shortly before she’s taken into surgery. “Everything that you do and tell yourself to prepare for this surgery can never really prepare you enough for seeing your baby in her hospital gown and then giving her away,” says Adam. Though the couple is used to making tough parental decisions on a daily basis, this was by the far the toughest. “Deciding to do Hazel’s surgery was one of the biggest decisions I’ve ever had to make,” Danielle admits. “You start to second-guess yourself a little bit. ‘Is this right? Do I need to do this?’ Yes, yes, yes, we’re here, we’re doing this. This is the right answer. But surgery is just so scary to me.” OutDaughtered premieres Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET on TLC.
