Paula Deen may have been eliminated from Dancing with the Stars on Monday, but she’s not that broken up about it.

“She’s not bitter at all. She’s ready to go home,” her dance partner Louis Van Amstel told PEOPLE after the show. “She is relieved. I think we squeezed out as much as we could.”

As for Van Amstel, he was hoping for at least one more week on the show with his celeb chef partner.

“I was not done yet,” he said. “I didn’t think we were going home.”

But Van Amstel said he and Deen understand why they were the ones to go Monday.

“What I really respect about Paula is she sees everybody else left and she knows they all deserve to be here,” he said. “She started being competitive in week 3 and she said, ‘I wanted to be the last one standing from all the older celebrities. But now it’s time to hand over the baton for the younger ones to compete.’ And obviously from a dancing point of view, it’s fair.”
