Nyle DiMarco's Dancing with the Stars Vlog: Why We're Cutting the Sound for Part of This Week's Dance

“This week, Peta and I are going to be doing the pasodoble. I’m looking forward to it. It’s a very powerful dance,” DiMarco tells PEOPLE via his translator of working with Peta Murgatroyd this week. “Something special that we’re going to be hiding under our sleeves – we’re going to be doing some of the dance without sound. For three counts of eight, they’ll be no sound.”
DiMarco, 27, notes that it will give hearing members of the audience a chance to better understand how he works.

“I think a lot of people in the audience, the hearing audience, are very impressed and look up to me about how I’m dancing, but it’s time to invite them into getting an insight into my world,” says the America’s Next Top Model winner. “What it’s like to be deaf and how I’ve been dancing without sound.”
DiMarco and Murgatroyd, 29, will be joined on stage by four members of the DWTS troupe – and he admits the silent section posed a special challenge.
“They were dancing on different counts,” DiMarco says of the pros, adding, “We’re making it work with all of us.”
