The Surprising, Last-Minute Change to Bindi Iwrin and Derek Hough's Dirty Dancing Routine on Dancing with the Stars
"All of a sudden I couldn't turn and I was freaking out," said Bindi Irwin.
“We were rehearsing [in the hallway outside the studio] before the show and suddenly things were going wrong that had never gone wrong before,” Hough told PEOPLE after the show on Monday.
“All of a sudden I couldn’t turn and I was freaking out,” added Irwin.

But there was a more serious problem than nerves to worry about.
“We were practicing the lift and Bindi’s dress kept sliding up,” explained Hough. “If it came up too high, she would fall down. We ran over to wardrobe and I said, ‘Please sew the dress to her underwear so it won’t slide up.’ ”
And it was a good solution.
“They were literally cutting the string right as we were running on stage to perform,” said Hough. “We were really nervous. But it went great.”
“It was the ultimate trust fall,” Irwin added of recreating the iconic dance move originally made famous by Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey in the 1987 classic film. “You just have to jump and know you can rely on your partner. So I did.”
