Did an injury almost sideline another fan favorite on Dancing with the Stars?

Alek Skarlatos was hit with a nose injury just hours before competition while rehearsing with his Switch-Up Week partner Emma Slater.

But the show went on for the Paris train hero.

In a clip airing the episode, Slater took the blame for injury.

“I broke his nose,” she says.

At the taping, he told PEOPLE the injury was nothing to worry about, and that a doctor would be giving a diagnosis Tuesday.

“I feel good. It’s nothing. I know it’s a little different shape now but no bleeding, swelling or bruising,” Skarlatos told PEOPLE. “So I’m optimistic for the results tomorrow.

During the episode, Skarlatos admitted that he found his new partner quite attractive.

“Focusing while we’re dancing is a little difficult. I mean, she is super attractive,” Skarlatos said. “I can get distracted fairly distracted when I’m dancing with her. I tried to play it cool, and that lasted about 10 minutes. I couldn’t do it. She’s just too hot. I couldn’t keep my cool under those circumstances.”

“Alek will be performing in tonight’s show and the official diagnosis is expected tomorrow,” a spokesperson for DWTS told PEOPLE ahead of the broadcast.

The injury comes two weeks after a medical emergency prevented Kim Zolciak from flying to Los Angeles to compete in the show. She was eliminated from the show, as DWTS rules state that contestants who cannot compete will be eliminated. Bindi Irwin recently competed despite a foot injury.

It’s been an incredibly eventful – and sometimes painful – few months for the Skarlatos, who in August foiled a terror attack on a Paris-bound train alongside two of his childhood friends. One of this friends, Spencer Stone, was stabbed multiple times last week, and Skarlatos visited him in the hospital over the weekend.

Earlier this month, Skarlatos rushed home to Roseburg, Oregon following a mass shooting on the campus of Umpqua Community College, where he had been registered to attend classes before deciding to join DWTS.

Dancing with the Stars airs Mondays (8 p.m. ET) on ABC.
