Courteney Cox Reveals She Lost Her Virginity at Age 21: 'I Think We Can Be Proud of That'

The Friends star said her mother gave her a pair of lace panties before the big moment

Courteney Cox is dishing on one of her most personal moments ahead of Valentine’s Day.

The Friends alum, 54, candidly revealed on Wednesday that she lost her virginity when she was 21 years old and armed with a pair of lace panties she’d received from her mom.

“I didn’t learn anything, my mom never talked to me about one thing that I should’ve known,” Cox told James Corden on The Late Late Show on Wednesday. “I shouldn’t probably say this, but I will. I was a virgin until I was 21. I think we can be proud of that.”

The actress said she’d been dating the man in question “for a long time,” to the point where her mother assumed they’d be together for a while.

“She sent me a pair of underwear to try to, you know, womanhood. And they were called Olga, and I swear, the lace was about three and a half, four inches, and then the cotton part,” she recalled. “But they were so much better than the ones I was wearing, so I was really backwards when it came to that. But, you know.”

“Get that Coco?” she added, referring to her 14-year-old daughter with ex-husband David Arquette.

Big Mouth star Nick Kroll was also on hand Wednesday, and asked the burning question likely on the minds of everyone watching: Did Cox wear the underwear for her boyfriend?

“I did, and they were pretty snazzy,” she said. “I mean, not in this day and in age.”

Cox is currently dating Snow Patrol rocker Johnny McDaid, whom she recently dubbed her “one.”

The couple got engaged in 2014 after a few months of dating, but split a year later, only to reconcile by April 2016.

Despite the fact that they haven’t tied the knot, Cox gushed to PEOPLE in October 2018 that she and McDaid, 42, were “married in my heart.”

She also told Ellen DeGeneres last month that not being married actually suits the couple better.

“We broke off our engagement, and he moved to England, then we got back together, and it’s actually better than it was before,” she said. “Everything’s better. Not because he’s in London — although I think the distance after that breakup, we were apart for six months, that really showed us a lot. It’s just better.”
