Snow Patrol‘s Johnny McDaid was definitely smitten with the lady on his arm at the BMI Pop awards on Tuesday night in Los Angeles – so much that he just couldn’t imagine giving her front row seats to his shows.

“Not the front row,” said Johnny McDaid at the BMI pop awards about his girlfriend Courteney Cox, 51. “That’d be too distracting to me, I wouldn’t be able to stop looking at her, and then I would just play all the wrong notes.”

Although the two are clearly back on, Cox stayed mum about whether or not they’re formally engaged to be married since calling off their engagement in December and subsequently getting back together this past March.

“Well we love each other,” she said. “Yes, we’re happy.”

As for the secret to staying together, McDaid, 39, put it down to his love for his leading lady: “I don’t know if you can put a label on what makes us work,” he said, “but I know that I’ve never loved like I love this woman, so if that’s enough, then that’s enough.”
