The Bachelor's Colton Underwood Says He'll Propose to Cassie Randolph Within the Next Year
Looks like the next Bachelor engagement is around the corner.
Colton Underwood and Cassie Randolph bucked the franchise’s tradition when they decided to give their relationship a chance without getting engaged by the end of his season — but now, a ring is definitely in their near future.
While attending the 54th Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas on Sunday, Underwood, 27, revealed he’s planning on proposing to Randolph, 23, sooner rather than later.
“Honestly, if I was a betting man I would say it would happen within the next year, yes,” he told Entertainment Tonight.
The former football player said the two are still “trying to live as normal lives we can” as the post-finale craziness dies down.
“We’re enjoying it, we’re having fun,” he said. “I think, right now, at this point in our relationship, we’re enjoying this, trying to be as normal as possible. But you know, we’ve talked about our engagement and talked about taking the next step in our relationship and [decided] one thing at a time.”

And it’s safe to say Underwood is completely smitten: As they walked the carpet together and posed for photos, the former Bachelor pulled out a disposable camera and joined the photographers to snap photos of his girlfriend in her shimmering black and silver gown.
Earlier in the night, Underwood shared a since-deleted tweet mentioning how good Randolph looked in her dress, but Randolph told PEOPLE on the red carpet that she wasn’t exactly thrilled about the missive.
“I was so mad at him for tweeting that,” she said with a laugh. “I was like, ‘Pressure, now, pressure!'”
Underwood said he’d “learned from the mistake.”
“I guess I’m not going to hype her dress up for the next red carpet,” he acknowledged. “But I mean, look at it — she’s beautiful.”
Randolph shocked Bachelor Nation during Underwood’s season when she was unable to commit to an engagement and left him before their Fantasy Suite date. But Underwood fought to get her back after breaking up with the remaining contestants because he knew Randolph was the one for him.
“I thought I made the right decision in leaving,” Randolph told PEOPLE in March. “But Colton fought for me. And he has shown me what a healthy relationship looks like.”
“Colton never put pressure on me,” she continued. “I think that’s why we’re still here today, because we took it at our own pace. We didn’t want to rush something that was going to be forever.”
“She doesn’t have a ring on her finger yet,” Underwood told PEOPLE of their engagement plans. “But she will, one day.”
