Members of an elite squad known as the Special Victims Unit are together again. This is this their story.

Okay, so it’s not quite time to cue the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit theme song, but days after former leading man Christopher Meloni shot down rumors he’d return for the long-running crime drama, he reunited with on-screen partner (and current star) Mariska Hargitay.

“Meeting peeps NYC #hanginWithAFriend,” Meloni, 54, cheekily captioned a selfie of the two Friday.

That’s right: Detectives Elliot Stabler and Olivia Benson are back in the city where they investigated especially heinous offenses for 12 years.

Meloni left the series in 2011, though Hargitay has had no problem catching vicious felons on her own – SVU was just renewed for an 18th season.

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit returns March 23 on NBC.
