People’s Choice Awards host Anna Faris didn’t shy away from pulling a rather substantial string to ramp up the show’s star power on Wednesday. Her not-so-secret weapon? Husband Chris Pratt.

The A-list couple opened the show from the set of Faris’s sitcom Mom – which airs on PCA-hosting network CBS – where Faris asked the Guardians of the Galaxy star to make an appearance on the awards show to which he wryly quipped, “Yeah, I turned that down.”

Joking about his crazy-busy upcoming slate of Jurassic World and the Guardians sequel, Pratt, 35, said, “Well you know I would do anything for you, I love you, but I’m super-busy right now – I have, like, 11 movies to shoot by next Friday.”

To help mitigate the actors’ overtasked itineraries, Faris, 38, suggested they bring on a nanny. Enter her Mom costar and PCA cohost Allison Janney, 55. Smoking a cigar and calling Faris and Pratt’s son Jack, 2, a “snot monster,” it’s no surprise Janney probably wouldn’t be a great nanny.

The kicker? She lost little Jack. Though Pratt did charitably shrug, “She seems nice!”
