After thrilling judges Randy Jackson, Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez with a performance of Joe Cocker’s “With a Little Help From My Friends” on Wednesday night, Casey Abrams was missing in action on Thursday’s elimination show. “You’ll notice that Casey is missing from the group. He is unfortunately sick and in the hospital right now,” Ryan Seacrest said at the opening of the show. “Wave to him … We know you’re watching buddy, feel better – shout out to the nurses. Get back here soon, okay?” Abrams, who wowed the judges throughout the audition process and became the first contestant in Idol history to perform with a upright bass, was hospitalized in February for severe stomach pains, but was released in time to perform with season 10’s top 12 men. “I don’t think we’ve ever seen a musician as talented as yourself,” Jackson told Abrams when the top 24 were announced. Reps for Fox, which airs Idol, are not commenting on Abrams’s health condition beyond the explanation Seacrest provided during the show.
