It is the end of an era! Fox announced on Monday that it will officially be ending American Idol after its upcoming 15th season.

It’s hard to believe a whole decade has passed since country singer Carrie Underwood first auditioned for the golden ticket that would send her on to Hollywood.

A then 21-year-old Carrie, wearing a pink T-shirt and jeans, wowed the judges with her rendition of I Can’t Make You Love Me by Bonnie Raitt.

Well, she didn’t have to try very hard! America fell in love with the soft-spoken blonde from Checotah, Oklahoma, and her career was launched into superstardom after she won the fourth season of the show in 2005.

Underwood, 32, who is married to hockey star Mike Fisher, is a multi-Grammy winner. She is also a mom, having given birth to the couple’s first son, Isaiah Michael, earlier this year.

Thank you, American Idol, for giving us one of our favorite country stars!
