Oh, Mylanta — Candace Cameron Bure is sharing the secret behind one of her most signature TV looks.

In the first-ever episode of PEOPLE's Defend Yourself, a new weekly celebrity interview series airing Tuesdays at 10 a.m. ET on Youtube, the If I Only Had Christmas star opens up about her Full House character DJ Tanner's teased bangs.

When asked to choose whether DJ's famous hair or Uncle Jesse's (John Stamos) physique is more iconic, Bure, 44, defaults to DJ's hair because it feels "creepy" thinking about Stamos' body. ("He's my uncle!" she jokes.)

"I mastered the self-tease. Here's how you got the iconic high bang, okay? You take the palm of your hand and you go like this," she says, bringing one hand to her head to muss her hairline. "Which automatically gives you a rat's nest."

"And then you took the Aqua Net and you went up and over, and then it would stay up. But this was the key — you had to do this," Bure continues, laughing while demonstrating the technique once again.

"You know that you all had the same hairstyle and if you didn't, you tried to have it," she adds. "Just some big bangs, up high, a lot of hairspray, wings on the outside. That's what the '80s and '90s were for, man — big hair."

Bure reprised her role as the oldest Tanner sister in Fuller House. The sequel series ran for five seasons on Netflix from 2016 to 2020 and saw a widowed DJ Tanner-Fuller find new (and old!) love while shacked up in her childhood family home in San Francisco with sister Stephanie Tanner (Jodie Sweetin) and best friend Kimmy Gibbler (Andrea Barber).

Asked on Defend Yourself which of the two women she'd prefer to be quarantined with amid the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, Bure says with a smile, "I hate to be so quick with this answer, but it's Andrea!"

The reasoning? "We are really goofy together and we laugh a lot, and we both like drinking margaritas and wine. And we both really loves chips and salsa," the actress explains.

"And we both enjoy working out," Bure continues. "We like riding the Peloton bike together — Andrea is a big Pelotoner. I do my Kira Stokes fitness app, but I get Andrea to join. And we just would be laughing nonstop and putting, like, ugly face masks on and being really goofy and silly, and that would make quarantine fun and the best."

On Defend Yourself, celebrities are presented with 10 low-stakes hot topics and must pick a stance to defend. They have 15 seconds to gather their thoughts and 30 seconds to present their case. Neutrality is not an option!
