Within the Kardashian-Jenner clan, reactions to Bruce Jenner‘s transition from male to female have been supportive but wide-ranging.

As we saw in last week’s Bruce-focused Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Khloé Kardashian reacted to the news of Bruce’s transition by being upset with him for not being straightforward about how soon he intended to fully transition.

As shown on this week’s KUWTK, Kylie Jenner – Bruce and Kris‘ youngest – went the complete opposite direction and withdrew into herself.

When Khloé suggested therapy, Kylie demurred, saying that she had no real intention of working through her feelings in that way and that therapy only works for people who want it. However, she admitted, “I feel like I go through these times where I hate my life.”

“Kylie and I are handling [Bruce’s transition] differently. Kylie does bottle up her emotions,” Kendall told KUWTK cameras, adding that her own work as a model keeps her busy enough that she’s able to keep from ruminating. Though Kylie certainly has her own fair share of business ventures at just 17 years old, she’s not working or traveling nearly as much as her older sisters and has nothing but time to wallow.

Over in Malibu, at Bruce’s house, he told a friend that “Kylie’s the one we’re really worried about. … She’s having a hard time dealing with this. I do everything I can to try to stay in touch but she doesn’t want to talk about it. She’s just shut me out lately.”

Added Bruce: “My big concern is just that we’ve had such a close relationship for so many years and my kids are everything to me. … I don’t want her to go away, emotionally.”

Kylie Withdraws Further, Shows Off Her Adrenaline-Junkie Side

In an attempt to keep the family together in the wake of all these huge changes, Kim decided to take everyone on a ski trip to Big Sky, Montana. There, Kylie was even more withdrawn. “My sisters keep trying to push me to talk about things,” she said, “but I don’t really want to talk to anyone else right now.”

In a seeming effort to keep her mind off of her feelings, Kylie discovered her inner adrenaline junkie – and took Khloé along for the ride. They went heli-skiing, which Khloé was emphatically not thrilled about but something she decided to do to support her sister.

“I feel like you’re doing all these things to distract your mind because you’re going through a lot,” Khloé told Kylie at the end of their big day, safely back inside their rented cabin. (“Cabin.” It was closer to a mansion.) “But I also feel like you do it because it makes you feel like you’re the Jenner,” Khloé added. “I feel like this should be your bonding stuff with your dad.”

Khloé’s words may have sunk in – Kylie decided to call her father, and after he expressed some joking shock (“Oh my God, it’s my daughter!”), the two had a cute conversation about her day and his new house (which has a “horsey situation”).

“I wish you were out here to do crazy things with me,” Kylie told Bruce, adding to cameras in an interview: “Me and my dad have so many things in common. He’s making all of these changes but I want to make sure I keep a close bond with him.”

As Bruce’s friend told him earlier in the episode, Kylie’s reticence to talk about his transition was “probably less about [Bruce] and more about her going through her process.” With the help of her sisters, it seems like Kylie is definitely on her way to being able to “say goodbye.”
