When Bruce Jenner revealed to daughter Kendall and stepdaughter Khloé Kardashian that he would be transitioning from male to female much sooner than they thought, they didn’t take the news very well.

As seen on Keeping Up with the Kardashians: About Bruce, Kendall and Khloé’s upset feelings were not due to the transition itself, but because they felt Bruce, 65, did not properly communicate the fact that he would be “gone” in a matter of months.

“I love you,” said Bruce. “I’m not going anywhere. It’s not like all of a sudden I’m abandoning you … I apologize if I didn’t communicate well enough.”

Khloé, 30, was particularly upset and especially on behalf of Kendall, 19, who was teary-eyed throughout their exchange. “We want you to do what makes you happy,” Khloé told her stepfather. “We’re going to support you and be there for you, but you have to be honest with us, even if it hurts you, because it’s going to hurt all of us. This hurts us more.”

Seemingly feeling defensive, Bruce replied that “Kendall and Kylie are the only ones I’m really concerned about.”

Khloé was taken aback, telling KUWTK cameras: “When I think about this whole thing, I considered my emotions just as important as Kendall or Kylie’s. I’ve known Bruce longer than than Kendall and Kylie have, if you want to put it out there! Yes, we’re not blood, but I know it’s still my dad.”

To Bruce, she said, “I think we’re all passionate and emotional. I think I’m pretty darn close with you. … If you’re so concerned, shouldn’t Kendall and Kylie have the opportunity to say goodbye?”

Again, Bruce insisted he’s “not going anywhere,” though Khloé pointed out that even Bruce has said that he wouldn’t be the same person: “You even said yourself, ‘I’m way more fun when I’m her.’ ”

In an interview with KUWTK cameras, Bruce acknowledged Khloé’s argument and hurt feelings. “Dealing with something like this … is like dealing with a death in the family. You don’t look like them anymore – you somewhat look like them but not really. It’s a tough transition for the people around you.”

“Love you,” Bruce told Kendall following the trio’s emotional conversation. “Love you,” she replied tearfully.
