Men and women around the world are uniting on social media to show support for Bruce Jenner in the wake of his 20/20 interview with Diane Sawyer, in which he spoke candidly about his gender transition.

Fans have started using the hashtag #PaintYourNailsForBruce on social media as an initiative to show support for the former athlete, who said during his interview that he longed to wear nail polish long enough for it to chip.

Australian radio station KIIS 106.5 launched the trend by encouraging listeners to don a manicure in support of the Keeping Up with the Kardashians personality, 65.

The station also set up a free nail-painting event at the Central Railway Station in Sydney on Sunday to spread the cause.

Jenner feels relieved and grateful for the overwhelming amount of support after his revealing sit-down with the ABC host, a source recently told PEOPLE.

“He also seems very happy that he is moving forward with his transition,” the source said, adding that in the past couple of weeks, Jenner “seems more comfortable with his new life. He leaves his house wearing lip gloss and nail polish. He seems more confident, relaxed and definitely more happy.”

And the hashtag has swept the Web:
