Though Spears, 33, has appeared on multiple television series before, including ( How I Met your Mother in 2008 and Will & Grace in 2006), her appearance in Jane the Virgin might be extra special for her – the pop singer has openly expressed that the CW series is one of her favorite shows on television.

“I get really into Jane the Virgin,” Spears previously told PEOPLE. “It’s fun.”

Showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman told PEOPLE during a Television Critics Association panel on Tuesday: “We’re really excited. We have a backstory, it turns out she is a real nemesis of Rogelio’s, but the sort of quality of their attraction is a little bit in dispute between what Rogelio thinks and what Britney thinks.”

Added Urman, “When we found out she was a fan, we said, ‘Would you please, please be on the show?’ Happily she said yes.”
