Tori Bates and her husband Bobby Smith welcomed their first child in November

April 11, 2019 12:15 PM

Tori Bates is opening up about her first experience with childbirth.

In PEOPLE’s exclusive sneak peek from Thursday’s midseason finale of Bringing Up Bates, cameras capture Tori in the moments after she gave birth to son Kade (full name Robert Ellis Smith IV) on Nov. 9 at 7:45 a.m. at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee.

Tori, who went into labor earlier than anyone expected, and had a difficult one at that, looks blissful as her newborn sweetly lays in her arms for the first time, adorably brushing his hand along her face.

“When he finally decided to help us all out, I’m telling you, it was the biggest feeling of relief,” says the new mom. “I don’t even know how to explain the feeling.”

“The tiniest little baby, and I’m so in love already,” she adds.

Tori, 23, welcomed Kade with her husband Bobby Smith.

“Welcoming Baby Kade into this world has truly been the most surreal experience to walk through together,” the couple told PEOPLE exclusively at the time. “Every moment with him just seems to glue this new family together, and we are so excited about the future we know God has in store for his life.”

Tori and Bobby tied the knot on Dec. 16 in a 700-person wedding ceremony. The nuptials took place at Calvary Baptist Church, where the happy couple walked down the aisle surrounded by their family and friends — including the entire Duggar family — minus Jinger.

The couple met in 2015 through a mutual friend and officially began courting in November 2016. The relationship was long-distance until Bobby graduated from college in 2017 and moved to Tennessee to be closer to Tori.

Bringing Up Bates‘ midseason finale airs tonight at 9 p.m. ET on UPtv.
