The former Here Comes Honey Boo Boo star reveals the dangerous surgical advice doctors gave her after four births
In a preview from Tuesday’s season finale of Botched, the mother of four explains to doctors turned reality stars Dr. Terry Dubrow and Dr. Paul Nassif that her previous doctor advised she have a tummy tuck following each birth.
“What has happened is with my last child, which is Honey Boo Boo, that doctor at that time told me that one, a tummy tuck was not done every time after each surgery like should have been done,” explains Shannon, 36.
The perplexed doctors are quick to clarify that a tummy tuck should never be performed directly after giving birth.
“You would never do a tummy tuck on someone who just delivered a baby,” says Dubrow, 57. “The uterus is very large and distended, and you could never get the muscles tightened over the uterus. So it’s probably the worst time to ever consider a tummy tuck. It’s never done.”
Shannon also shares that 10-year-old daughter, Alana Thompson (a.k.a. Honey Boo Boo), had her head scarred when the doctor cut too deep and sliced into her forehead during the C-section a decade ago.
“When Alana was born 10 years ago, there’s so much scar tissue right here that the doctor, he didn’t know how deep to go down and that’s why he ended up cutting Alana’s head open twice,” Shannon said, pointing to her forehead.
“In all my life, I’ve never heard of C-section where a scalpel goes too deep and actually slices into a baby’s forehead or even touches a baby,” Nassif, 54, says in an interview. “What type of doctor did this?”
