Entertainment TV Blake Shelton Admits He Doesn't Want Gwen Stefani to Leave 'The Voice' Next Season: 'Why Can't We Have a Fifth Coach?' Gwen Stefani will take a break after season nine of the show By George Stark Published on December 9, 2015 11:35 PM Share Tweet Pin Email Photo: NBC/Getty It is usually a contestant that Blake Shelton doesn’t want to send home from The Voice but this time, it’s his girlfriend Gwen Stefani. In an interview with Extra Shelton, 39, and Stefani, 46, discussed the fact that she’ll be taking a break after season nine – although the new couple did not discuss their romance. “I don’t want Gwen to not be on the show, why can’t we have a fifth coach?” Shelton said, seeming genuinely sad. Renee Bargh interjected asking why there can’t be two female coaches, to which Blake replied: “Why can’t there be? I vote for that!” Meanwhile Gwen played coy. When asked who she will miss the most she answered, “I wonder…” before explaining that she will miss the “chemistry” of all the coaches. Hilariously, Adam Levine joked that they’ll miss Stefani’s style on set most when she takes a break next season. “I think Gwen has been a stand-out moment. Somehow, when Gwen walks in the room, we all look like we’ve been wearing the same outfit for 10 years,” Levine said.
