Star Wars‘ Lando Calrissian is moving from one hospital to another.

Billy Dee Williams, who plays an orderly on SOAPnet’s General Hospital: Night Shift, will step into ABC’s primetime drama Private Practice this fall as a patient of Sam Bennett (Taye Diggs), reports TV Guide. In what insiders called “a very moving role,” Williams will play a man who selflessly cares for his wife, who is suffering from dementia, despite his own deteriorating health.

Williams joins Oceanside Wellness doctors Addison Montgomery (Kate Walsh), Naomi Bennett (Audra McDonald), and Pete Wilder (Tim Daly).

The clinic, set on the beach in sunny Santa Monica, is a long way from Cloud City, but maybe Williams will have better luck charming Addison than he did with Princess Leia. — Madeleine Desmond Eric Ogden/ABC; Michael Tullberg/Getty
