Bill O’Reilly‘s got your back, Brian Williams.

On Tuesday’s edition of The Late Show with David Letterman on CBS, the Fox News Channel host said that he thinks NBC should rethink its suspension of the NBC Nightly News anchor, who is under investigation for his claims about his time spent reporting on the Iraq War in 2003.

“We have a sport in the United States called let’s destroy the famous person,” O’Reilly told Letterman. “That’s what happened to him. I think NBC should bring him back. I think they will bring them back.”

Letterman referred to Williams as “my friend.”

On Saturday, Williams made his first public appearance since he was suspended in February. He attended a fundraising gala for his alma mater, Mater Dei High School in New Monmouth, New Jersey.

As a result of the scandal, Williams’ daughter Allison postponed her wedding to her longtime boyfriend, Ricky Van Veen.

“One thing the experience has not done is shake my trust and belief in him as a man,” the Girls star told Seth Meyers of her father. “He’s a really good man. He’s an honest man. He’s a truthful man. He has so much integrity … and, yes, he’s a really good dad.”
