Which Biggest Loser Contestant Has the Biggest Heart?
The finale of season 10, which has been as much about gaining heart as losing weight, airs Tuesday
On Tuesday’s finale of The Biggest Loser, the scale will determine the winner. But the philanthropy-focused 10th season of NBC’s hit show has been about gaining heart as well as losing weight.
“With success comes responsibility,” says finalist Frado Dinten, who is on the board of two charities and was seen on the show supporting five. “You have to give back.”
Like Frado, the other finalists – Patrick House, Elizabeth Ruiz and Ada Wong – have lost an inspiring amount of weight but also pledged to speak to their communities or become more active in the causes they support.
“Lawrence, Mass., my hometown, is No. 1 in the state of Massachusetts for obesity among women and children. I want to be able to help and make a change in that community,” Elizabeth tells PEOPLE. “Now is the perfect time to take advantage of the attention from The Biggest Loser and open people’s eyes that what I did was the healthy way [to lose weight], and you can, too.”
Patrick and Ada both plan to start foundations that will help kids become more active and provide them resources to overcome childhood obesity.
“The other day I went to an elementary school and we were discussing teasing and bullying,” says Ada. “That’s where the trouble starts with kids developing self-esteem issues.”
Patrick, who had been unemployed before starting his journey, says he may accept a position at the MindStream Academy in South Carolina, a boarding school for teens with weight issues. “It’s the perfect way for me to pay it forward,” he says.
Tuesday’s finale airs at 9 p.m. (ET) on NBC.
