While Breaking Bad fans everywhere know Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks) as a gun-toting fixer whom even Olivia Pope would fear, he came from relatively simple beginnings.

As the newest teaser for AMC’s upcoming spinoff Better Call Saul reveals, Mike was once a lowly parking attendant – with a penchant for smashing heads.

When Saul Goodman (aka James “Jimmy” McGill, portrayed by Bob Odenkirk) met Mike, it was as car parker and car parkee.

Unsurprisingly, Saul rubbed Mike the wrong way, and was denied access to his garage. When Saul decided to park right at the gate that Mike refused to open, he calmly advised Saul against it.

“Oh yeah?” Saul demanded. “What are you going to do? You got a poop-filled diaper in there? You gonna gum me to death? Huh, geezer?”

The sneak peek ends, of course, with Saul’s face being rubbed into the concrete by his future employee. Love at first sight.

Like the inevitability of the sun rising in the east, it’s truly comforting to know that Mike will be a violent curmudgeon no matter at which point on the Breaking Bad timeline we visit him.

Better Call Saul premieres Sunday, Feb. 8, on AMC at 10 p.m. ET.
