Ben Higgins handled his disappointment well after The Bachelorette‘s Kaitlyn Bristowe gave him the boot, and now Higgins has a heck of a consolation prize: He’ll be the lead in the new season of The Bachelor!

To make sure you’re ready to watch the 6’4″ heartthrob’s quest for love once it hits the air, we gathered five things you need to know to understand TV’s most eligible Bachelor.

1. He has to have his tunes.
Let’s hope at least one of the new Bachelor contestants can sing or strum a tune. Higgins loves to gush about his favorite artists on social media, including Vance Joy, NEEDTOBREATHE, Ryan Bingham and Turnpike Troubadours. The future suitor especially loves country and counts the historic Texas music venue Gruene Hall among his favorite places. To win his heart, ladies better be ready to accompany him to shows.

2. He isn’t afraid to break a sweat.
Higgins definitely has a sporty side. He hikes, golfs and considers football season his “favorite time of the year.” But his well-toned muscles aren’t just used for fun and games. The 26-year-old got down and dirty to reroof his house and build a sidewalk, and he does his own lawn maintenance.

3. He’s ready for marriage.
Looks like fans of The Bachelor can look forward to a finale engagement. Higgins told PEOPLE that he’s “ready to share my life with somebody.” And that means for the long haul. “And I’m not fearful of the the idea of getting married. As soon as I can find that person, it seems like the better life will be,” he said. The new leading man has no qualms about making a trip to the jewelry store: “Ideally at the end of this, I will be proposing.”

4. He knows you might think he’s boring.
Sure, Higgins wasn’t particularly wild on The Bachelorette, but he wants you to know that just because he’s a sweetheart doesn’t mean it will be dull to watch 25 women compete for his love. “Come on, we can’t let that happen!” he wrote on Twitter in response to a fan who said she felt it would be a boring Bachelor season. “My story may not be the most dramatic, but that doesn’t mean it will be boring,” he added.

5. He needs a "good" girl.
Okay, so maybe Higgins does appreciate the calmer things in life. When talking to PEOPLE about the kind of partner he is looking for, Higgins said he’s “always been attracted to Blake Lively … [an] all-around good girl.” And while fighting between Bachelor contestants may make for entertaining TV, Higgins knows combative personalities can lead to a contentious romance. “Somebody who doesn’t get along with people in the house is not the best girl to get in a relationship with,” he said.
