Exclusive! Bella Thorne Makes Her Playboy Debut with a Tribute to David Bowie
The November 2016 issue hits newsstands nationwide on Oct. 25
PEOPLE can exclusively reveal that the 19-year-old actress is the latest A-lister to grace the pages of the racy magazine in its November 2016 issue, which will have 25-year-old Ashley Smith as its cover model.
In the upcoming issue, Thorne pays tribute to David Bowie by sporting a red bomber jacket that showcases the late musician’s last name stitched onto the back. Tapped to appear in the monthly “No Filter” feature that highlights a woman who is making waves in the entertainment industry, Thorne addresses her critics and those who “try to shame a woman’s sexiness.”
“People are constantly trying to change me, every second of the day, especially on social media. I’m not fed up with social media — I understand it — but people like to comment on how my image is too edgy, that I’m too edgy, and on how they wish I looked. It’s a lot of ‘do this, don’t do that,’ ” Thorne states in the article.
After 62 years, the iconic men’s magazine announced in October 2015 that it would stop publishing nude photoshoots of women (it still include photos of women in provocative poses). In March, Playboy released its first ever non-nude issue with social media star Sarah McDaniel on the cover.
