Former Bachelor Bob Guiney on Kaitlyn Bristowe's Suitors: The Show 'Could've Done a Better Job Casting'
Guiney tells PEOPLE he's Team Kaitlyn all the way: "She's really cute! I think she's very genuine"
“I love Kaitlyn. I thought she was super cool,” Guiney said Monday night at the launch of Lycos Life & The Lycos Life Project in Hollywood, referencing the current Bachelorette, who made it to the final three with Chris Soules last season. “She’s really cute! I think she’s very genuine, which I like.”
Added Guiney, “I don’t even think she realizes that she’s on TV half the time.”
But the 44-year-old leading man from The Bachelor‘s fourth season isn’t too keen on Bristowe’s options – especially JJ Lane.
“I don’t really like a lot of the guys this season,” said Guiney. “I feel like, for such a cool girl, they could’ve done a better job casting it.”
Continued Guiney, “I hope that JJ dude is gone soon. I don’t know what his story is. That whole thing with him and Clint was interesting.”
Guiney is referencing the controversial “Brokeback Bachelor” promo that hinted Chris Arlis might have feelings for Lane.
Controversy erupted following that episode when Arlis jokingly apologized to his father on Twitter, and wrote in a follow-up, “Before I field any questions about Brokeback Bachelor rumors, I would like to just say that I am a proud, 30-year-old woman, and it’s 2015. You monsters.”
His Tweets and ABC’s promotion had many in social media accusing them of homophobia.
