Former Bachelorette Star Andi Dorfman Penning Tell-All Book About Split With Josh Murray
After moving to New York City, Dorfman tells PEOPLE she is focusing on writing her book set to release in the spring
From Bachelorette to Carrie Bradshaw?
Andi Dorfman, one of New York City’s newest residents, told PEOPLE at a housewarming event hosted by Palm Breeze on Thursday that she’s been writing a breakup book since her big move from Atlanta.
“It is basically a tongue-in-cheek diary of my breakup but it’s also kind of like the anti self-help book,” the former assistant district attorney says. “I went through a very public breakup but it was also extremely private.
Dorfman, 28, was on season 10 of The Bachelorette and got engaged on the show to former professional baseball player Josh Murray, 30, in 2014. The couple endured a public split in January.
“I didn’t share a lot of stuff and I feel like we, as women, don’t share a lot of bad emotions that are associated with breakups and this book kind of defies that,” she says. “It’s like, you know what? I did it. I did every good, bad, ugly, sad, crazy, psychotic thing that women do. I’m like, here it is – we all do it. I am proof that we all do it.”
When asked about her current love life, Dorfman says all dating apps are off the table.
“I don’t think I will ever go on them,” she says. “I think I did the reality dating television shows enough to not have to do the apps now. I did my little guilty pleasure.”
Although Dorfman says she hasn’t really started dating in New York yet, she may be able to get some writing tips from Sarah Jessica Parker herself.
The former Sex and the City star lives in her neighborhood.
“I’m just like jaw to the ground every time. I haven’t had the courage to go up and say anything to her yet,” Dorfman says. “She like walks down my street in the mornings to take the kids to school.”
