After hitting it off on the first night of Bachelor Pad, Jackie Gordon and Ames Brown seemed to be the perfect couple.

And when she was eliminated Monday at the second rose ceremony, and Brown jumped in the limo with her and bragged about choosing love over money – ending his hopes at winning $250,000 – their relationship looked like it had a fairy tale ending.

Not so fast. It turns out the pair are already broken up.

“Um, well, we had a great time on the show and chose love over money in the competition,” portfolio manager Brown, 31, said in the weekly conference call to reporters on Tuesday. “We are not still dating but we enjoyed every moment we had together. After a little while, we split up. Nothing too exotic about it.”

They only lasted a couple of weeks after leaving the series, he said, adding, “We just maybe weren’t the ideal match.”

Gordon, a 27-year-old artist/assistant teacher, called Brown a “wonderful person” who “made me feel very comfortable,” but she suggested the breakup wasn’t mutual.

“I was shocked that it ended as it did. I thought it was potential forever,” she said. “It came out of nowhere. As far as I knew, things were great. I thought it lasted much longer than it did. I guess you didn’t. It takes two.”
