Nick Viall's season of The Bachelor will premiere in January
This may not be his first time looking for love on national television, but Nick Viall sincerely hopes it’s his last.
“I’m hopeful I’ll find someone to spend the rest of my life with,” the next leading man of The Bachelor tells PEOPLE exclusively in this week’s issue. “I couldn’t be more excited to find that amazing connection.”
And when it comes to how he’ll approach his relationships with the lucky ladies, “I hope to make this as much of an even playing field as possible,” says the 35-year-old entrepreneur. “I’m not looking for a relationship where I’m in control. I’m not attracted to submissive women.”
Nor will he make a decision based on anything but his own gut feeling. “I don’t want to pick someone because they’re the last woman standing,” says Viall. “My biggest fear isn’t necessarily getting my heart broken. It’s not finding the right one.”

As far as those fantasy dates, they’re not top priority for this Bachelor.
“It’s fun to be on an adventure date, but sometimes there is less communication and to me that’s the biggest focus,” says Viall. “I’m sure the dates will be a lot of fun. But I didn’t want to be the Bachelor so I could go bungee jumping!”
The Bachelor returns to ABC in January.
