'The Bachelor' : One Dad Refuses to Give Colton Permission to Propose During Tense Hometown Date

Colton Underwood admits he's falling in love with all four women during this week's hometown dates

Bachelor Nation, we’ve made it to hometowns.

On Monday night’s episode, Colton Underwood meets the final four contestants’ families — and lets it slip that he’s “falling in love” with each and everyone one of them. Here’s how it all went down.

HOMETOWN DATE WITH CAELYNN

The first hometown date goes to Caelynn, who is from Fredericksburg, Virginia. The two cuddle while taking a carriage ride around town, and Caelynn briefs Colton on who is he going to meet — which is basically everybody in the entire town, including her stepdad, because she doesn’t’ have a relationship with her biological father.

Caelynn’s family seems very sweet, but you can tell they’reskeptical of this whole relationship, particularly considering there are still three other women in the running. Her stepdad John keeps a close eye on them, and it doesn’t help that Colton isn’t shy about showing off some PDA.

“Colton is having to go family to family, so I have to find out just how sincere he is in this relationship with my daughter,” John says.

But while John talked a big game, he takes it pretty easy on Colton when they sat down together. Colton tells John that he’s falling in love with Caelynn.

“How do you know that you’re the right person for her?” he asks.

“I don’t yet,” Colton responds. “I think there’s still a lot of things we still have to discover and find out about each other to have the confidence to know that this could end in an engagement.”

And despite Colton pretty openly admitting he doesn’t know if he wants to marry Caelynn, John still gives him permission to propose.

“I feel very comfortable in supporting both of them,” John says.

HOMETOWN WITH HANNAH G.

Hannah G. starts off their hometown date in Birmingham, Alabama, by “showing him what the South is all about” with an etiquette class. Though it’s obvious that Colton is less than enthused (and maybe a little insulted) at the idea of spending the day learning everything he does wrong in life, he smiles through it like a champ.

As soon as they arrive at Hannah’s house, they pretty much throw everything they learned out the window, though, because her family is super laid-back and cool.

Since Hannah is an only child, she relies on the advice of her cousins, best friends and mom to help her decide if Colton is the right person for her or not. Naturally, they all love him.

Hannah tells her mom that while she doesn’t want to be a “coin-toss” decision, she’s ready to accept a proposal.

“He is somebody who I truly, truly see possibly it working out with at the end,” she says. “I see this working out.”

When Colton sits down with Hannah’s dad, he tells him Hannah has “everything he’s looking for” and admits that he’s falling in love with her.

“I’m not hiding the fact that there are still other women here. With your daughter, from the very moment that I met her, I could tell she was somebody special,” he says.

He asks for her dad’s permission to propose, which he grants.

“I never really thought about this, wow, that blows me away a little bit actually,” her dad says. “If it continues working the way it is, I’d give you my blessing for sure.”

HOMETOWN WITH TAYSHIA

Tayshia’s hometown annoyed me for one reason: She talked a big game about her dad being tough, and that was certainly not the case.

But before Colton meets him, Tayshia has a surprise: They are going skydiving!

It seems she wanted to one-up their Thailand bungee-jumping experience by increasing their chance of death even more!

“Payback’s a bitch,” he says. “I’m f—— terrified.”

“I still have to lose my virginity,” he adds. “I don’t know what I’m missing, and I heard it’s really good.”

Luckily, they both survive and meet on the ground, where they promptly resume making out.

(Did anyone else think about the poor cameraman who was roped into skydiving with them? Nose goes!)

Before heading to her house, Colton tells Tayshia he’s falling in love with her. Once at her house, Colton meets her mom, dad and two brothers.

Her father promptly pulls Colton aside and grills him about his intentions.

“You say you’re falling in love with her, that’s a strong word,” he says. “You seem like a smart man, so I’m sure you can pick the right words. Sometimes if somebody is falling back on the default word of saying ‘falling in love,’ that’s the wrong thing to be doing. You’re just creating a web.”

After attempting to convince her dad Desmond of his feelings, Colton asks for his permission to marry Tayshia — and he initially says no.

“I just met you,” he says. “I need to make sure it’s the right thing. Straight up, I think you’re a good guy but obviously, I want to protect her and have her best interest.”

But after talking with Tayshia and getting a better understanding of just how strong her feelings are, he changes his mind.

“I am content with saying yes to Colton at this point,” he says. “Colton has promised me a few things, and I feel confident he’s genuine and sincere.”

HOMETOWN WITH CASSIE

Cassie’s hometown date was a little hard to watch. Before even meeting her family, Colton seemed desperate to get a better understanding of where she stood with her feelings — and she didn’t give him much to work with.

During a surf lesson, Cassie tells Colton that she doesn’t want to tell him she’s falling in love with him before she’s ready, despite him having already done so.

“I know how I feel but I want to be sure,” she says, adding that her family’s opinion matters a lot to her.

But when Colton arrives at Cassie’s house to meet her family, it’s immediately clear that her dad, Matt, isn’t feeling the love.

“I didn’t have a strong initial opinion of Colton because I don’t like to draw judgment to quickly,” Matt says. “I could tell Colton was being affectionate with Cassie. I don’t know if that’s what he does with all the girls he goes out with. We don’t know him. He seemed like a … guy.”

Things only get worse when Cassie sits down with her dad and he questions the relationship.

“I’m not dumb! You have to know I’m being smart about this whole thing,” she says. “I just want you to trust me.”

By the time her dad sits down to talk with Colton, things are already tense. Colton asks Cassie’s dad for permission to propose — and he says no.

“I think that a lifelong commitment, that’s big and shouldn’t be taken at all lightly because it is forever in my opinion,” he says. “Too often I think it’s done without enough thought. As far as the hand in marriage, that would be a premature blessing.”

Colton is visibly upset.

“That’s not exactly what I wanted to hear,” he says. “I think Cassie can make me very happy, and I think I’d have a great life with her.”

And as a one-two-punch to the evening, Cassie still holds back when telling Colton how she’s feeling.

“I want to be 100% percent confident in anything I’m going to say to you, that’s really important to me,” she says. “I’m really excited about where everything can go.”

Mmm, that doesn’t sound like “I love you too,” but maybe it’s just me.

ROSE CEREMONY

Colton hands out roses to Hannah G., then Tayshia, then Cassie.

Caelynn is absolutely crushed and breaks down into sobs immediately.

“I’m just blindsided, I guess,” she says. “I just saw it. I saw it.”

Colton comforts her but doesn’t ever give a clear reason as to why he decided to send her home. Instead, he lets her cry on his shoulder before helping her inside the car.

The two-hour Women Tell All special airs Monday at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
