"They part with nothing but respect and admiration for one another," reads a network statement
The Bachelor couple “have mutually and amicably decided to end their engagement,” reads a joint statement released to PEOPLE. “They part with nothing but respect and admiration for one another and will continue to be supportive friends.
“They wish to thank everyone who has supported them through this journey.”
Bachelor Nation watched Soules, 33, get down on one knee in March, telling Bischoff, “It’s not work for us. It’s natural. We both want the same thing, and it feels so right. It feels so perfect. And that’s what I want for the rest of my life. I love you.”
Soules revealed to PEOPLE following the Bachelor finale that Bischoff was his “soul mate” and that he was “ready to be a dad,” though they were realistic about wedding planning: “I don’t think you can put a time limit on something like that,” said Bischoff. “When we feel it, it will happen.”
Bischoff’s willingness to move to Soules’ tiny hometown was met with incredulity by Bachelor fans, but she maintained that she was ready to settle down and start a family. However, Soules still had a run on Dancing with the Stars to complete before they could properly settle down as a couple.
For his part, Soules was excited to begin his life with Bischoff in earnest following DWTS, though he admitted they had yet to move in together two months after their relationship became public knowledge. “Eventually she will be moving to Arlington and we’ll be beginning our life there,” he told PEOPLE.
When reports of a breakup swirled following Soules’ elimination from DWTS, the former Bachelor posted an Instagram of himself with Bischoff on his farm, proudly declaring her a “#farmerintraining,” seemingly proving that farm life was no obstacle to the couple.
Said Soules in March: “We had this great love story that now we get to build upon and start a new love story in real life.”
