Inside Austin Forsyth's Anxious Moments Before Popping the Question to Joy-Anna Duggar
In an exclusive sneak peek at Monday’s episode of Counting On, Joy-Anna’s beau gets a serious case of the butterflies as he gears up to ask the 19-year-old to marry him.
“Waiting for Joy to get there, I was pretty nervous,” he says in the clip. “I was pretty, pretty nervous.”
In the moment, Joy-Anna believed that she was meeting up with Austin, along with her sisters Johannah and Jennifer, to go horseback riding. But the sweet outing was all a plan for Austin to get down on one knee.
“When Joy finally arrived, reality did set in,” he says. “Like, here in just a short time I’m gonna be asking her to marry me — and yeah, that was very surreal.”

Nearly three months after asking her to be his bride, Austin and Joy-Anna tied the knot in May.
“Leading up, it was so surreal until I was walking down the aisle and then I was like, ‘Oh my goodness, it’s actually here,’ ” a teary-eyed Joy-Anna told PEOPLE of the wedding.

Joy-Anna and Austin were friends for 15 years before entering into a courtship in November. They met when his family moved to Arkansas and started attending the Duggars’ church.
“You know, over the years, I have just been watching and I really admire her heart for the Lord and her character. She’s such a diligent worker,” he told Joy-Anna’s father, Jim Bob, when asking permission to begin the relationship.
“She gets all the younger siblings working. She’s a good delegator,” he said, and added, “And then, of course, her beauty.”
