Welcome to adulthood, Ariel Winter!

The Modern Family star turned 18 on Thursday and rang in the milestone with a playful Instagram post.

In the video, Winter, wearing a white T-shirt and sporting perfectly tousled hair, repeatedly covers and uncovers her mouth.

She captioned the post, “18!” alongside an emoji of a monkey covering its eyes, perfectly capturing how we all feel about being legal adults.

Although she only just turned 18, Winter recently opened up to PEOPLE about how child stardom helped her grow up quickly.

“I’ve kind of been in adulthood for a little bit now,” she says in the new issue of PEOPLE, on stands Friday.

Winter had her guardianship transferred from her mother, Christoula Workman, to her sister, Shanelle Gray, in 2014 and successfully petitioned to become an emancipated minor in May 2015.

“I was put in the industry when I was 4. I love what I do, but I don’t know if it’s a choice I would have made on my own,” she continues. “People criticize you at an extremely young age. There’s a lot of rejection. I heard no thousands of times. That was hard to cope with.”
