Ariana Grande Reveals 'Lifelong Crush' on Jim Carrey: 'OMG, He's So Cute'

The singer confessed to freaking out when she finally met the actor

Here’s one crush confession you didn’t see coming.

On Wednesday, expressed her feelings for Jim Carrey during an appearance on Live with Kelly and Michael.

The must-watch moment started when Kelly Ripa‘s co-host Michael Strahan asked Grande, “Who is your childhood crush?”

“My childhood crush, my lifelong crush, it kind of all goes together,” the Scream Queens star explained. “It’s Jim Carrey.”

Then the singer, 22, shared her emotional reaction to meeting the veteran actor and comedian, 53.

“I met him, and like, cried,” she said. “It was really weird. It was so weird. It was so uncharacteristic of me. I’m usually sort of chill. I’m usually somewhat contained but I met him and … ”

Grande covered her mouth while breathing deeply and laughing as Strahan asked about Carrey’s response to her display of emotion.

“I was kind of nervous to meet him, you know, he’s been my crush forever,” she said. “What if he’s not as nice as I’m expecting? He was so over-the-top nice, and perfect, and just as I hoped he’d be. He told me in his Jim Carrey way, ‘Remember, be nice.’ OMG, he’s so cute.”

As it turns out, Grande actually captured part of their tear-filled meeting in an Instagram video she shared in April 2014.

Grande’s sweet comments about the actor come a couple days after Cathriona White, Carrey’s on-and-off girlfriend, was found dead of an apparent suicide on Monday.

“She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled,” Carrey said in a statement obtained by PEOPLE. “My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her.”
