Apolo Ohno still has the Olympic spirit, even when it comes to Dancing With the Stars.

“I’m supporting Evan Lysacek,” told PEOPLE Friday while celebrating his 28th birthday at Tao Las Vegas.

Lysacek is vying to be crowned champ of the popular ABC show this season, competing against stars Nicole Scherzinger and Erin Andrews. Ohno says he plans to attend the Tuesday finale.

“I think Evan is going to do great,” Ohno, an eight-time Winter Olympic medalist, said. “I heard the odds are a little bit against him, but if we could gamble on it I’d put money on him here in Vegas. I’’d try to sway the vote and just Twitter like crazy.”

Ohno knows a thing or two about getting America’s vote. He won the fourth season of Dancing With the Stars along with partner Julianne Hough.

“I was supporting Chad Ochocinco,” the short track speed skater said. “I’m a big fan of him but he got axed. So, for me, Evan is a fellow Olympian. You’ve got to support your guys.”
