Anna Paquin Talks Shooting 'True Blood' Love Scene – Directed by Husband Stephen Moyer

The True Blood couple open up about TV sex – and their own marriage – as the show kicks off its final season

Anna Paquin isn’t afraid to get nude in front of her husband, even when it’s with another man, Entertainment Weekly reports.

In the premiere of the HBO show’s final season, the True Blood star is directed by husband Stephen Moyer. The episode features a love scene between Paquin and hunky Joe Manganiello, who plays Alcide – and both Paquin and Moyer are okay with that.

“It’s not as awkward as you would think,” Paquin, 31, who is openly bisexual, tells the magazine of hitting the sheets on camera with another actor. “If you were to picture the perfect day at work for your spouse, would that be it? Probably not, but this is just kind of how it’s always been. So it doesn’t feel as bizarre.”

Moyer, 44, seems to agree, describing directing his wife’s love scenes as all in a day’s work. “There are moments where I’ll be watching the monitor [and say] ‘Oh, Joe, just move your hand up towards Anna’s breast,” he tells EW. “And can you move your thumb just a little bit towards her nipple? Great.’ And then I’ll go ‘Babe, babe, enjoy it.’ I’m certainly talking to her as ‘babe.’ ‘Darling, go for it, yeah, feel the nipple.’ ”

Being comfortable in her own skin and in love with Moyer likely also made it easy for Paquin to vamp it up naked for the magazine’s latest cover, which shows the couple posing provocatively inside a makeshift coffin. As True Blood – which is on its seventh and last season – comes to a close, Paquin notes the show’s odd charm.

“We set the bar very high for weird very early on,” the Oscar winner said. “We’ve done a lot of weird s— on this show. Actually, the potentially awkward couplings [are] not the weirdest s— that we’ve done on this show.”

During their time on the series, Paquin and Moyer have married and welcomed the arrival in 2012 of their fraternal twins, son Charlie and daughter Poppy.

They also say that the show’s sexually charged vampire shenanigans have brought them closer.

“In a funny way, I feel like – without revealing too much – it’s quite interesting for us as a couple because we’ve kind of gone to places where a lot of people don’t get to,” Moyer says. “Or have to,” adds Paquin.

“And we’re still here,” Moyer says. “And I think that’s good for us in a way.”

True Blood returns for its final season on June 22.
