Speaking with PEOPLE and Entertainment Weekly‘s Editorial Director Jess Cagle, it was time for the Watch What Happens Live host to have his turn in the hot seat.

Cagle decided to ask Cohen if he had any advice for the 42-year-old co-host about working with Kelly Ripa —and he had the perfect response.

“I think he should not underestimate how smart she is,” explained Cohen, 48. “I just don’t think he should underestimate her in any way.”

“She’s smart,” he continued. “She’s been doing that show for a long time. She’s a business woman, a great mom and just don’t underestimate her.”

When Cagle asked about Seacrest being the chosen one, Cohen revealed that it was a good decision.

“I think it’s good because it’s … he’s an adult. He’s a big star and he’s a big name. So I think it take a lot of the burden off of her, because she’s been doing this alone for the last year. It’s equals now — which is good.”

Advice aside, Ripa, 46, and Seacrest have been friends for a long time — Ripa even auditioned for American Idol as a contestant as a prank for her show.

“I was so fascinated by him,” she recently told PEOPLE. “He had the hardest job because he was dealing with these people whose dreams were being crushed, and he did it so seamlessly and with such a sweet sense of humor. Even though I was the worst singer.”

“She really was the worst singer we’ve ever had,” Seacrest added at the time.
