America’s Got Talent

is full of death-defying stunts, but one act on the live show went horribly wrong when an archer missed her mark and hit her stage partner – and fiancé – in the throat with a flaming arrow.

Canadian stuntman and sword swallower Ryan Stock has been impressing the judges all season by sticking items in his nose, putting a blow torch out on his tongue and holding a chainsaw in his mouth.

During Tuesday night’s live trick, Stock swallowed a long rod with a small target on the end and bent forward for his fiancée, AmberLynn Walker, to take aim. Using a crossbow and a flaming arrow, Walker fired a bolt at the target and missed, striking Stock near his neck.

The mishap left judges Heidi Klum Howie Mandel, Mel B., and Simon Cowell in shock as Stock appeared to grab his neck in pain.

“I’m okay, it got my shirt, I’m okay,” he eventually assured the terrified crowd.

Despite Stock’s insistence that he was fine, the judges were adamant that he seek medical attention immediately. Cowell even interrupted Klum’s feedback by asking, “Why are we judging this act? Amber just shot Ryan and he needs to go to a hospital now! I’m being serious.”

After a commercial break, host Nick Cannon assured viewers that Stock was examined by EMTs and appeared to be fine.

“We had a serious mishap tonight outage live on @nbcagt,” Stock tweeted after the broadcast. “A very unfortunate mechanical failure but I am very fortunate to walk away from it.”

Ironically, the couple had joked about a stunt going wrong before the act.

AmberLynn asked her fiancé, “Promise you won’t be mad at me if I kill you?” He responds, “Sure. I can promise that.”

Despite the mishap, Cowell thought the duo’s frightening act could find an audience in Las Vegas.

“I think they like all that stuff in Vegas. It’s like watching a horror movie,” Cowell told Billboard. “You kind of don’t like it, but you do like it and you want to see more of it.”
