After more a decade judging young talent, Simon Cowell is truly shocked very little – but that’s exactly what Laura Bretan did this season on America’s Got Talent.

The incredible, 13-year-old opera singer who captured America’s heart and earned the first Golden Buzzer of the season, opens up to PEOPLE Now about the moment judge Mel B pushed the buzzer and changed her life.

“I was in shock. I had no idea what to do – to stand there, to cry, to laugh,” Bretan admits. “I had no idea what to do. I was just so excited and so surprised.”

And what about singing in front of the infamous Cowell? “It was, of course, very overwhelming and nerve-racking,” Bretan says of the audition. “I was shaking so bad.”

Nerves didn’t seem to matter much in the end, though, because Bretan wowed the crowd with her spectacular performance.

The singer hasn’t stopped impressing the rest of America, either. Since the airing of the show, Bretan has become a certified viral hit with millions of people marveling at her talent. Her audition video has already accumulated more than 15 million views since it was posted.

Looking ahead, Bretan says she “would like to become a professional singer. And, later on, maybe I wanna cross over to not only classical and opera music, but to other styles of music and try that also.”
